Coroner identifies second victim of Thursday morning bar shooting

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of a second individual who died early Thursday morning as the result of a shooting incident at 851 Bush River Road, Columbia.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. at McCary’s Bar and Grill on Bush River Road.

Christopher Lott, Jr., 36, of Bent Tree Lane, Columbia, was transported from the scene by Richland County EMS and taken to Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Lott died at 8:51 a.m.  An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to gunshot wounds to the torso.

Tolliver E. Wise, 29, of Cunningham Road, Columbia, died at the scene of the shooting.  An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Four people were shot at the site. Lott and two others were taken to the hospital, where he died.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident.
