Representatives from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and Riverbanks Zoo and Garden presented a new addition to the airport Friday morning at a press conference. The new Mamava lactation and breastfeeding pod, located on the concourse, is a private suite providing mothers with a new option for breastfeeding and pumping while traveling.

Riverbanks Zoo president and CEO Tommy Stringfellow said the partnership with CAE made sense for both organizations. “Obviously, babies are a big part of Riverbanks Zoo, and we have a lot of newborns on the way. We thought when this opportunity came along, that it was a perfect partnership,” he said.

The suite is intended to hold one mother at a time. There is an accompanying Mamava Pump and Nursing Finder App mothers can download that will send them a code which grants them access into the suite. The app also allows those inside to regulate the temperature and lighting.

The the pod provides two areas of sitting spaces, with a mirror and countertop in between, a space for a stroller, and a place to plug in a pump.

“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our traveler’s experience,” Mike Gula said, Executive Director of CAE. “The Mamava pod is an offering needed for our traveling mothers that is currently not available on the airside, and with this partnership with Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, we’re glad to be able to provide this to them.”
