Coroner identifies 2 victims, 1 dies in motorcycle accident, 1 dies in shooting

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of the individual who died in a motorcycle collision that occurred Friday at approximately 7:10 p.m. The incident occurred in the 7600 block of St. Andrews Road, Columbia.

Wade William Brentlinger, 39, of Ashe Street, Lexington, was the driver of the motorcycle. Mr. Brentlinger was transported from the scene by Richland County EMS to Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he died at 8:34 p.m. An autopsy indicated the cause of death to be due to blunt force injuries to the head. He was not wearing a helmet, said Watts.  The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Irmo Police Department are investigating the incident.

Earlier Saturday, released the name if the individual who died Friday night in a shooting at 3304 Beaumont Avenue, Columbia. The incident occurred around 11 p.m.

Brantley Sutton, 55, of Northwood Street, Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the torso.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Columbia Police Department are investigating the incident.
