Person hit by train, Columbia Fire responds

Several emergency vehicles from the Columbia Fire Department responded to the area of Calhoun and Williams Streets after a person was hit by a train sometime after 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to a CFD report.

Firefighters assisted with getting one person transported by EMS.

Columbia Police are investigating the collision involving a train and a pedestrian. It appeared that the male pedestrian was walking on the railroad tracks and didn’t acknowledge multiple train horns before his foot was significantly injured.

The person who was hit is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.
