What to expect at this year’s South Congaree Championship Rodeo

Barrel racing, bull riding, and a good evening of family fun will be in store for South Congaree this weekend.

The South Congaree Championship Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday. Events will begin around 7:30 p.m. each night. The rodeo features current and former champions, and award-winning livestock. There will also be contenders, and former winners of Bull of the Year.

According to a representative of the South Congaree Championship Rodeo, there will also be quite a young International Finals Rodeo winner making an appearance at the event. “We have the 2019 IFR contract specialty act champion. She’ll be here. She is 11 years old, a great trick rider, [and] shoots off a horseback. She’s going to be here both Friday and Saturday.”

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the festivities. Aside from the rodeo itself, there will vendors, food, and a musical performance by up-and-coming country artist Tom Baker Saturday at 5 p.m.

There’s something for the whole family at the South Congaree Championship Rodeo, located at 395 Oak Street, West Columbia. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit their website or Facebook page.
