Mashburn Construction is about to begin renovating and transforming another downtown Columbia building. The existing 10-story facility built in 1954 will become the new Holiday Inn at 1233 Washington Street. The hotel will offer 90 rooms and downtown experience unique to the Holiday Inn brand. The 47,544 sq.-ft. hotel will include meeting space, fitness room, E-bar business center, and a full restaurant and bar inside.

Owners of Lexington Hospitality, LLC chose Mashburn to complete the demolition and rebuild of the existing building. Raj Champaneri (COO), AJ Champaneri (CEO) and Nash Campaneri (Principal) run the family-owned hospitality company that specializes in development and management.

“Our team is dedicated to the successful hotel development and management of a unique and diverse collection of hotel projects,”said Raj Champaneri.

The Mashburn team has already installed new structural steel into the facility, which was previously an office building. Interior elements include sleek, clean furniture and integration of the mid-century aesthetic with soft textures, bold colors, and historical neutrals.

President of Mashburn Construction, Lee Mashburn, said, “Not only are we fortunate to work with great partners like the Champaneris, but their vision to redevelop a blighted downtown office building supports our commitment to our local communities across the state.”

An expected project completion date has not yet been released.
