18-year-old dies in collision in Irmo, coroner identifies

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of the individual who died as a result of a motor vehicle collision Sunday around 5:45 p.m. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Dreher Shoals Road in Irmo.

According to Watts, James M. Gladish, 18, of Kingston Forest Drive, Irmo, was the driver of a Honda Civic that collided with a Toyota Highlander. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Gladish was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy conducted by the Richland County Coroner’s office determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries to the head and body of an unrestrained driver in a motor vehicle collision.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the SC Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.
