Multiples of the Midlands will host its bi-annual consignment sale Saturday, Aug. 17 from 7 a.m. to noon. The M.O.M. (Mothers of Multiples) Sale will feature gently-used items for children at a fraction of the cost parents would pay for the same items purchased new. The event will be held in the Health and Wellness Center at Brookland Baptist Church, located at 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia.

Each sale offers a gymnasium full of merchandise including toys (preemie through size 14), shoes, equipment, books, entertainment needs, feeding essentials and more. The furniture for sale could potentially include cribs, toddler/twin beds, changing tables, and rockers/gliders. Items are closely examined by the event’s quality control inspectors before being offered for sale.

“Parents of multiples are keenly aware of the high cost involved with having and raising children. This sale is a great way for families to save a lot of money on the items that are necessary on a daily basis,” said Cynthia Guyton, M.O.M. Sale co-chair. “While clothing is the main feature of each sale, equipment and entertainment options are in abundant supply, as well. Our shoppers are consistently pleased with our large selection, high quality, low prices and friendly volunteers.”

Funds raised from the sale will support the activities of the MoM Club, a non-profit supporting families with multiples. The organization holds monthly meetings, offers online support, playdates, a “preemie closet,” and a variety of support opportunities for families raising multiples.

Additionally, a portion of the revenues from the sales over the years has gone to support the Prisma Health Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and Sister Care. “Our club members are passionate about giving back to the charities in the community that directly impact the lives of children, these sales are the major reasons we can be generous to other worthy organizations,” added Guyton.
