UPDATE – Man killed in Richland County crash, is identified by coroner
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of the individual who died. Leroy James Abrams, Jr., 30, of Sumter, was the driver of a vehicle. Mr. Abrams died at the scene. An autopsy indicated the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the torso suffered in the collision.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.
Earlier Thursday The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported the incident.
Abrams, the driver of a 2005 Chevy Cobalt was traveling south on Highway 601 when the car ran off the road to the right. The driver over-corrected and ran off the to the left, and hit an embankment. The car also hit several trees and overturned.
