Northeast Columbia residents will have a new, unique option for seafood this summer when Yummi Crab restaurant opens in the Village at Sandhill.

The new restaurant will offer a variety of seafood including shrimp, clams, mussels, crab legs, crawfish and lobster tail. After the seafood is boiled, general manager and partner Wei Long Qiu says diners can customize their order with flavors such as garlic butter, lemon pepper, Cajun or Yummi’s special sauce, as well as spice levels from mild to extra hot.

“It’s a unique, submersive dining experience,” Long Qiu said. “It should be fun. People won’t be on their phones, texting.”

The menu also will include fried fish such as tilapia and catfish. Chicken tenders and wings will be available for non-fish fans. Sides will include corn on the cob, potatoes, fries, rice and sausage. A variety of appetizers, several desserts and a full-service bar will also be offered.

Yummi Crab is located at 150 Forum Drive, in the building formerly occupied by J.P.’s 4 Corners restaurant. An extensive remodeling includes a new bar area separated from the dining area. The restaurant will seat about 140 people inside and 25 on a covered patio outside. Long Qiu says a small stage area can offer live music. The restaurant will employ about 85 people.

Owners plan a soft opening in about two weeks, followed by a grand opening July 14. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday from noon to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from noon to 11 p.m.
