Grace Animal Hospital employees, four-legged patients, and their owners all had an unexpected shock Thursday morning when an SUV crashed through the business wall, into the lobby area.

Marshall Jumper was present inside with his Shih Tzu, Kadi, at the time of the incident. He said they were quite surprised when he heard a tremendous crash just behind them.

“I grabbed her and looked out the door and a car was in the lobby five feet from the room we were in,” he recalled.

Jumper said there was a woman sitting on a bench against the wall when the vehicle crashed through it. He said she got pushed across the floor, while still sitting on the bench.

“It was a miracle that no one got hurt. God was watching over us all,” he said.

A representative from the animal hospital said they are remaining open. An emergency wall was being put in place as of 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to the employee. She confirmed that no one, including the driver of the vehicle, was injured. Grace Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge is located at 147 Charter Oak Road in Lexington.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department worked the incident.  Officials have not yet responded in regards to the state of the driver.
