Columbia’s Duck Duck Goose offering high-end children’s clothing

Sarah Rama, owner of Columbia’s new children’s clothing boutique Duck Duck Goose, didn’t start out to be a retail entrepreneur. The Columbia native, armed with a business degree (and a retail minor) from the University of South Carolina first worked for the architectural firm GMK, and later joined the floor covering giant, Mohawk.

“I had worked in retail in high school and had become addicted to it,” said Rama. She later indulged her passion by starting an online retail store from her home. “I started Duck Duck Goose from my dining room table while working full time,” she added. Her focus was marketing children’s clothing from high-end manufacturers such as Little English, Kissy Kissy, and Pixie Lily.

Children’s clothing ranges up to sizes 6 or in some cases 8. But why should a parent shop at Duck Duck Goose?

“It’s all about the experience,” said Rama. “The personal attention we give, our ability to help you chose the right garment, the right fabric. The clothing we sell will last forever. And we don’t just make shopping interesting, we make it fun,” she said.

According to Rama, she knows what moms want. “I am a mom (of a boy and girl) and most of my employees have children. I carry the lines I dress my own children in. When I started this business I took on fewer lines but deeper ones. We also offer local deliveries for customers who live within a five-mile radius of our shop. We are the go-to shop in Columbia for expectant mothers and we offer our registrants private events so that we can provide them with one-on-one assistance,” she said.

Duck Duck Goose is located in Columbia at 2816 Devine St. The store’s number is 803-451-0014. More information can be found at shopduckduckgoose.com.
