Fire, involving two houses, results in the closing of Greene Street, Tuesday morning

The Columbia Fire Department reported that Greene Street was shutdown in the 1700 block due to a fire involving two homes.

Drivers were asked to seek alternative routes. Crews were first dispatched to the two-alarm blaze shortly before 6:30, Tuesday morning. The fire was extinguished, but there are Significant damages, according to the CFD.

More than 40 CFD personnel were involved in fighting the fire. Early indications are at least 12 people are displaced and damages are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. CFD photos.
