Teen arrested in double-murder investigation

Columbia Police have made an arrest in the Skyland Drive double murder investigation. 18-year-old Genari McNeil is charged with two counts of murder, armed robbery and first degree burglary. The crime’s motive is believed to be armed robbery, according to the CPD.

Columbia Police investigators are also looking to identify McNeil’s alleged accomplice in the shooting. Both men were wearing masks during crime. Call 1-888-CRIME-SC w/ anonymous tips.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the shooting victims who died as Mary Carmichael, 23, and Jahquan Peterson, 26. Both were shot in the upper body.  The shooting occurred at 221 Skyland Drive Saturday night, according to the Columbia Police Department.
