Art on State turns pavement to paintings in West Columbia
In West Columbia and Cayce, they play in the street. Last week Cayce hosted Soiree on State, and Friday night on the West Columbia end, Art on State returned.
Threatening skies cleared in time for hundreds to fill the 100 block of State Street and wander in and out of the businesses there.
On the street, Seventy Six and Sunny delivered live music as local artists Allan Anderson, Michael Cassidy, Laura Day, Dylan Fouste and Michael Krajewski painted murals on the pavement.
“It’s just a great atmosphere,” said Kelly Galliano as she watched her daughter create street art of her own with chalk. “There’s stuff for adults and kids and it’s so cool to watch artists working right here in front of you.”
Frame of Mind, State Street Trading Company, The Warehouse and other businesses offered giveaways and specials for those wanting to see what lay inside the buildings near the street party. Cafe Strudel, State Street Pub, New Brookland Tavern, The Blended Bakery and Terra offered up food and drinks for all.
