Riverbanks Zoo and Garden has been nominated as one of the best zoos in the country.

USA Today released a list of 20 nominees, and Columbia’s Riverbanks is 16th on the list (in alphabetical order). According to the USA Today guidelines, a panel of travel experts were asked to nominate their favorite North American zoos, accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

The nominees are said to be facilities that excel in the fields of animal care and enrichment, while also facilitating meaningful interactions between animals and human visitors.

Voting is open to the public now, and can be done once a day until voting ends Monday, April 22 at noon. The 10 winning zoos will be announced Friday, May 3.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, Riverbanks was in sixth place.
