A Taste of the South to hold Grand Opening in Cottontown

Join A Taste of the South — Columbia’s iconic confections, treats and gift basket retailer — for the grand opening April 12 of its new location at 2222 Sumter St. in the historic Cottontown neighborhood. An open house will be held from 3 to 8 p.m.

A Taste of the South is excited to join the Cottontown retail community,” said President and CEO Elie Abikhaled, head of the 30-year-old family-owned business. “I think in 10 years this is going to be the premier corridor in Columbia. That’s why I wanted to position my company here.”

As part of the grand opening celebration, A Taste of the South will offer product samples, free beverages, light small bites, and a 15 percent discount on all pecan products.

An expanded product line at the new Cottontown location includes gifts by local artists and craft persons as well as A Taste of the South’s classic Southern pecans and candies. The newly renovated building also houses the packaging operation for the retailer’s extensive online business.

A Taste of the South is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

The 4,500 square-foot building, which had housed a maintenance facility for Loomis Armored US, was renovated by Cason Development Group.

A Taste of the South joins The War Mouth restaurant, Indah Coffee Co., Circa Barber Shop, pizzeria Città del Cotone and the corporate offices of Cason Development Group along with several other businesses in relocating to Cottontown.
