Man dead after shooting at Columbia apartment complex, coroner identifies

A man is dead after a shooting at a Columbia apartment complex Saturday night, according to the Columbia Police Department.

The shooting occurred after 7 p.m. at Lakeshore Village Apartments in the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road, near the Walmart store.

Police said the shooting might have been prompted by an argument.  The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the CPD.

Police said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident. No arrests have been made.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as Stacy Windell Rhodes, 29, of Hunters Road, Hopkins. He was transported from the scene to Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he died at 10:03 p.m., said Watts.  An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to gunshot wounds to the upper body.
