A. C. Flora seniors earn MVP honors at North-South All-Star Games
Lexington High School was once again the site for the North-South All-Star Games.
Held by the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association, the boys and girls’ contests offered seniors a final opportunity to play amongst their peers.
The two games featured different outcomes:
South 78, North 55
Jasmine Salley of Class 5A champion Goose Creek scored 15 points and team MVP McKinley Brooks-Sumpter of A.C. Flora added 11 as the South cruised to victory with a dominating 2nd half effort.
Lady Gators’ teammate Mary Davis also scored in double figures with 10 and Dutch Fork’s Katrice Jackson finished with 9.
Sierra McCullough of South Pointe finished with 12 points to earn MVP honors for the North. She was the team’s lone scorer in double figures.
North 121, South 105
With less than 10 minutes left, the South held a 100-85 lead and appeared headed to victory.
In the span of less than five minutes, the North had taken over the contest and ended up rolling to victory.
At one point trailing as many as 18 points, the North finished the contest on a 36-5 run to secure the win.
Ridge View’s Walyn Napper had a game-high 25 points to lead the North. Ta’lon Cooper of three-time Class 3A champion Dorman earned team MVP honors after finishing with 17 points and Malik Bryant of Nation Ford had 15 points.
Kenynon Scott had 17 points and South MVP Derrick Sinkler Jr. of A.C. Flora finished with 16 points. Kenyatta Jenkins of West Ashley and Rashmel Butler of Ridgeland-Hardeeville had 12 points each, Damaje Hicks of Lower Richland added 11 and Jamarvious Jones of Strom Thurmond and Darius Dawson of West Florence had 10 points each.
