A new cigar and wine shop is scheduled to open the first week of May, at 158 Langford Road, Suite B.

Blythewood Cigar & Wine is a new venture by business partners Robert Smalls and John Edwards, who own and operate Upscale Cutz and Stylez in the building next door.

Interior construction is underway in the new shop, which will include retail areas for cigar and wine purchases, a humidor for cigar storage, a bar area for wine by the glass, and a cigar lounge area with seating and television screens, along with a high-tech ventilation system to remove smoke. Edwards says the shop will eventually stock 80 to 100 different types of cigars and up to 100 different wines.

“I think it’ll do really well, from talking to my current customers, people around town and at other cigar shops,” Edward said. “Cigars are a big thing right now.”

Edwards grew up in Louisiana but retired to Blythewood after a 25-year career in the U.S. Army and a few years teaching school. He has operated the next-door barber shop since 2015, and plans to staff his new business with other retired military veterans.

Blythewood Cigar & Wine will be open approximately 2 to 10 p.m. daily except Sundays.
