Riverbanks Zoo announces names of newest lion cubs
Riverbanks Zoo representatives announced the names of the two newest lion cubs Monday morning on their Facebook page. They were born in October to mother Lindelani, and father, Zuri.
According to the announcement, the cubs have been named Cleopatra, and Suki:
“These sisters have already begun to live up to their names. Cleopatra, means father’s glory, she looks and acts like her father, Zuri; a mellow feline. Hasira, which means ferocious in Swahili, is a feisty and strong feline; who often steals food from mom. Welcome to the Riverbanks Pride, Hasira and Cleopatra!”
More than 5,500 collective votes were cast for the naming of the cubs on the zoo’s website. There were three name options listed for each cub. The voting finished Sunday.
