Blythewood area residents wanting a fresh look will have two nearby options with the opening of two new businesses.

Lady Lana Classic Beauty Supply is now open at 420-F McNulty Street. The business offers a mirrored wig salon, hair care products and accessories, cosmetics, skin and nail care products, and barber and salon supplies.

“We saw a need in the community. There’s not a single beauty supply other store in this zip code,” said Star Waller, who owns the business with her husband, Johnnie. It’s the first retail venture for the couple, who run the business along with five part-time employees. Star Waller also works in health care sales and Johnnie Waller is a nuclear engineer at SCANA.

Lady Lana is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Also now open in McNulty Plaza is Guilded Iris, a mini boutique offering clothing, accessories and gift items, as well as works by local artists. The new shop is located in the Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce’s office at 428-4 McNulty Street.

It’s the third area business for Tina Johnson, who also owns Over the Top Boutique and The Loft in Ridgeway.

“I had a lot of customers at Over the Top from Blythewood, from Columbia, from Camden asking for another location,” Johnson said. “Blythewood needed a ladies’ boutique.”

Johnson says the shop will offer a personal shopping experience and feature monthly pop-up shows.

Guilded Iris is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will expand hours to 6 p.m. after its official grand opening on Friday, March 1.
