A red Dodge Ram drove into the Irmo Bruegger’s Bagels Friday morning around 11:30, breaking through windows and knocking down restaurant furniture.

According to a customer inside Bruegger’s at the time of the accident, no one was hurt except for one employee who had minor cuts from glass. General Manager Shelley Haga confirmed that no one was hurt except for a few minor scratches.

Haga said due to the incident, the restaurant will be closed for the remainder of Friday, and all day Saturday. “They’re building a structure to secure the front of the building now,” she said. “We’re just going to take it day by day.” Bruegger’s may be able to reopen in the next few days with limited function, but Haga said the time frame is still unknown at this time.

The store is located at 945 Lake Murray Boulevard.

Any additional information provided by police regarding the truck’s driver will be updated as received.
