Marvel fans young and old will travel to Columbia this weekend to watch a live show with some of their favorite super heroes.

The cast of Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes will be performing six shows incorporating fire, aerial silks, motorcycles, and combat in front of a crowd of thousands. Characters include Spider Man, the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Dr. Strange, who join together to defend the universe from evil.

Taylor Castriota, who plays the character of Gomorrah in the production, said her favorite part of the show happens after the action is finished. “My favorite part is a scene in the end: curtain call. It’s like a photo-op moment for the audience,” she said. “The fact that (the kids) see their favorite super heroes right in front of them, they’re screaming, looking at us, is just the best feeling in the world.”

Castriota said sometimes she will see a young girl dressed up as her character. “Every now and then I’ll see a little girl with her face painted green and a wig and costume.  It takes everything inside of me not go to over and give her a big high five and just say yes, you’re awesome.”

The show is fitting for children of all ages, according to Castriota:  “I would say it’s not scary for little kids, the only thing is there are parts of the show that can be loud, with pyrotechnics.  But there’s no blood and gore, or anything like that.”

Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes will be Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Tickets are available at the box office inside the Colonial Life Arena, on, and at 800-745-3000.
