Preseason high school baseball rankings include 10 Midlands teams

Midlands teams dominate the preseason rankings of the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association.

A total of 10 teams, including 5 in Class 5A, are included in the first rankings of the season. Six of the eight teams ranked are also competing in the NaturChem Invitational starting Feb. 28 at River Bluff and Lexington high schools, including defending champion and Class 4A runner-up, Airport.
A.C. Flora is the preseason number-one in Class 4A and highest ranked Midlands team, while the Eagles are eighth.

Four teams out of Region 5-5A make up the Class 5A rankings. Two-time Class 5A runner-up River Bluff leads the way at number two, followed by Dutch Fork (fourth), Blythewood (fifth), Chapin (seventh), which won the Class 4A title last season, and Lexington (eighth).
The Class 3A rankings has Gilbert in fourth, followed by Camden (ninth) and Pelion (tied at 10th).
