South Carolina comes back, defeats Florida in Men’s basketball
South Carolina came back from a 14-point deficit and picked up a 71-69 victory over Florida Saturday night in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams.
The game-winner, at Florida, was Chris Silva’s dunk at the end of a full-court pass with 2.5 seconds left in the game.
The Gamecocks improve to 6-7, and 1-0 in the SEC with the win. The Gators dropped to 8-5, and 0-1 in the SEC.
Hassani Gravett led the Gamecocks with 22 points. Silva finished with 18 points.
South Carolina took its first lead since scoring the first point of the game with 3:39 remaining.
The Gators led by as many as 13 points in the first half thanks mostly to its six 3-pointers. But Florida went cold late in the game.
