Columbia Police Department investigators with the Special Victims Unit arrested a 26-year-old female for allegedly lying to them about a crime.   Kristen Michelle Rimes, 26, was charged with filing a false police report and false swearing to police.

Rimes allegedly filed a false police report Nov. 26 while at the Columbia Police Department.  In the document, she reported being assaulted by an unknown male suspect.  The assault, according to Rimes, occurred in the Harbison Walmart as she sat in a vehicle and was forced out, causing her to strike her head on the pavement.

In the process, Rimes said the suspect tried to force down her pants. After the incident, Rimes posted information about it on Facebook, which caused a large response. She included a picture of her face with a bruise on her cheek and cut above her eye.

According to Columbia Police, investigators further determined that Rimes was never at the location on the night she claimed the incident occurred.  She was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Rimes spoke to Cola Daily after she posted the information on Facebook in November, recounting specific details of the alleged incident. The original Cola Daily article can be found HERE.
