Richland County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for two burglaries.

According to the department, deputies responded to an alarm call Nov. 28 at the Sharpe Shop at 8308 Winnsboro Rd. When they arrived, they found the front door glass had been shattered. Surveillance video footage captured a suspect wearing gloves, a blue-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants break into the business to steal cigarettes. The suspect left with 47 packs, worth around $329.

The second incidence occurred Nov. 30 around 4 a.m. A citizen noticed the front door of the J&S Food Mart, at 2409 Percival Road, was open and the glass door had been broken. Deputies responded to the business and found it had been burglarized. The surveillance footage from inside showed the suspect breaking the door to get inside. Then, the suspect stole items from the store. The business reported ore than $4,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen, along with some cash.

Investigators have reason to believe both burglaries are connected. Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the videos or knows any information about the burglaries is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
