Thousands turn out for Blythewood Christmas parade (photo gallery)
Sunny skies and temperatures toying with 60 degrees drew thousands of area residents to Blythewood Sunday afternoon for the town’s annual Christmas parade.
The parade opened with the wail of a firetruck siren, followed by more than 50 floats, vehicles and groups. High school marching bands, scout troops, martial arts and dance academies, vintage vehicles, church groups, civic clubs and local businesses waved and threw candy to the crowd for several hours.
The parade was organized by Transfiguration Church and its Knights of Columbus group. All entry fees and sponsorship funds were donated to two area charities: the Christian Assistance Bridge and Big Red Barn Retreat.
