Gamecocks beat Akron, bowl destination to be announced Sunday
South Carolina led 28-3 at halftime and there was no scoring by either team in the second half.
Rain fell in Columbia for the entirety of the game. The Gamecocks turned the ball over four times. QB Jake Bentley threw two interceptions in the red zone. There were two fumbles, too.
USC is now 7-5. Akron fell to 4-8. South Carolina’s bowl destination will be announced Sunday afternoon.
The Gamecocks played Akron as a replacement game for a Sept. 15 game scheduled against Marshall game, but that games was canceled due to Hurricane Florence.
