Holiday fun is on its way at the South Carolina State Museum with plenty of events for the family, date night, or a night out with friends.

SCSM’s annual holiday tradition continues with the 4D experience of the film The Polar Express. This experience includes sensory effects like the smell of warm hot chocolate, the feel of chilly wind blasts, seat vibrations and more. Guests are welcome to not only view the film but become a part of the journey to the North Pole.

To explore the mystery of the star of Bethlehem, visit the planetarium for a 25-minute display of the “Christmas Star.” The audiovisual display includes historical and scientific facts to take spectators back in time to early Jerusalem.

On Tuesday nights, visit SCSM for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Laser Lights Show. This 40-minute holiday laser light show features a colorful light display choreographed to Trans-Siberian Orchestra holiday music.

For those looking to give back to the community, take a trip to the museum from Nov. 16-18 for the Festival of Trees. Put on by Palmetto Health, Festival of Trees is a black-tie event that features cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, music and items for auction.

Visit www.scmuseum.org for showtimes, tickets and more information on SCSM’s holiday events.
