Lexington County Coroner identifies Gilbert man who died in collision

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Shore Road near Belle Lindler Road in Gilbert. The incident occurred Monday at 12:15 p.m.

According to Fisher, Mr. Luke Matthews King, 59, of Gilbert, was pronounced dead at the scene. King was traveling northbound on Shore Road when his vehicle left the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree. The coroner reported that King was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
