Pedestrian hit on Gervais Street, in serious condition

The Columbia Police Departments Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a two-car accident that also involved a male pedestrian in the 500 block of Gervais Street. It occurred Friday afternoon. It appears that the two cars collided causing one to hit a sidewalk and the pedestrian, said the CPD.

The eastbound 400 and 500 blocks were shut down. Medical personnel reported that the pedestrian has lower body injuries. On Saturday, the CPD reported the male pedestrian who was injured in the accident is in serious condition at a hospital. He was hit after a car failed to yield to another vehicle, causing the victim to get pushed into a brick wall. Driver was cited. CPD photo.
