Coroner identifies man who died in collision on I-20

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a motor vehicle collision that occurred near mile marker 62 on Interstate 20 eastbound at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Jacklin Philippe, 29, of Fayetteville, North Carolina was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time after the accident. The cause of death was due to multiple traumatic injuries. Philippe, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, and collided with a guardrail, then a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
