Jamboree schedule for the weekend, by Tyler Cupp
Jamboree season is here. Well, it’s just two days really. But still an exciting time because the season is just one week away. The chance to see your team compete in a preseason-like format under the lights. They play scrimmages, but this will be in front of fans and feel more like a game with a running scoreboard, clock, and officials. It’s a “dress rehearsal” of sorts for these teams as week 0 and the regular season officially kicks off next Friday night.
The formats for these jamborees seem to differ. For example, the Shrine Club Jamboree has changed to a 50 minute running clock instead of two halves. That should allow the games to go on as scheduled, even with coaches having an unlimited number of timeouts. Another good thing about these jamborees is that every kid on the roster should see playing time. This will be especially true for the handful of Midlands teams competing both Friday and Saturday. Those coaches and teams will have to spread out the playing time and minutes of everybody playing back to back nights.
