It’s been two years since Midlands Media Group was formed, and the company has been growing ever since. Within the first two years the business acquired 94.3 The Dude (WWNQ), Cola Daily, the e-commerce site ColaDailyDeals.com, and created an online radio channel FIZZ – The Sound of Soda City. Wednesday afternoon, owners Kirk Litton and Keith Stover announced the newest acquisition of the company: local radio station WZMJ, 93.1 The Lake.

Litton said he is pleased to add WZMJ to the lineup of local media offerings. “Since forming Midlands Media just two years ago when we acquired WWNQ 94.3 The Dude, we have continued to invest in our home market and want to thank our local sponsors and listeners for making the latest expansion possible,” he said.

Stover said it’s exciting to grow their company here in the Midlands with a station that will compliment The Dude, which is the only locally owned and operated country music station in Columbia. “We see terrific opportunities for 93.1 WZMJ as another strong, locally programmed station serving our local community and expanding the audience reach of the company,” he added.

Midland Media Group’s headquarters are located downtown in Columbia’s Vista. All operations under MMG, including 94.3 The Dude and ColaDaily operate out of the Columbia location. The Dude features an “Undivided Country” music format, mixing songs from the 90’s, 00’s, and today. Cola Daily is the area’s only free, digital, daily newspaper focused on local news.

Midlands Media is focused on helping to build a stronger local community by providing entertainment and news in compelling formats.  MMG owners have not yet announced what type of music will be playing on 93.1 The Lake.
