Woman killed in Richland County accident is identified

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has released the name of the individual who died Tuesday in a single-vehicle collision. It occurred at 8:47 a.m. on I-20 westbound at mile marker 74, Columbia.

Tonya Marie Nazreth, 47, of Willow Wind Lane, Hopkins, was the restrained driver of a vehicle that left the road and struck a tree.  Nazreth was transported from the scene by Richland County EMS and taken to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital where she died at 9:35 a.m.  An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to blunt trauma to the upper body.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
