Betsy Massey Cameron

Betsy Massey Cameron, 77, of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Born on August 25, 1940, in Franklin County, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Urquhart and Elizabeth Buchanan Massey. Mrs. Cameron was raised on the family farm in Pilot, NC, where she was instilled with the most important values of strong Christian faith and family. Mrs. Cameron spent much of her life as a homemaker and will be remembered as an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother. Some of her fondest memories were made spending summers and weekends with her husband and children at their home in the Outer Banks, NC. She was a former member of Amity Presbyterian Church and a member of Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed serving and participating in many church activities.

Survivors include her children, Laurie McGill (Jeff) of Columbia, Roddy Cameron of Chapel Hill, NC, and Joy Cameron of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Patrick McGill, Rachel McGill, Noah McGill, Jesse Herndon, Kevin Herndon, Lucy Herndon, Zac Cameron, Nadia Herndon, Lily Herndon, and Taylor Cameron; her beloved brother, Wayne Massey (Pearl) of IA; sister-in-law, Mary Cameron of Jacksonville, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John Roderick Cameron and her sister, Jean Jarvis.

The service for Mrs. Cameron will be held at 2 o’clock, Monday, July 9th, at Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church, 3326 Archdale Dr, Charlotte, NC 28210 with Reverend Dean Turbeville officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church or the charity of one’s choice.
