Columbia man arrested on charges connected to exploitation of a minor

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Jacob Abram Klapper, 34, of Columbia, on 15 charges connected to the exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department made the arrest.

Investigators with the Attorney General’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, both also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with this investigation.

Investigators state Klapper distributed files of child pornography.

Klapper was arrested on June 25. He is charged with fifteen counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, a felony offense punishable by up to ten years imprisonment on each count.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
