Cayce’s Soiree on State is Saturday, music, art, food, and kids events
Cayce’s Soiree on State this Saturday offers something for everybody, according to Cayce Mayor Elise Partin. She said there will be lots of live music, an area for kids, food vendors, food trucks, a trolley for convenience, and more than 40 artists.
The Soiree on State begins at noon and lasts until 8 p.m. The City of Cayce has partnered with The Avenues Neighborhood Association to combine the Cayce Festival of the Arts with Soiree on State.
“It’s a cool event in the heart of our city,” said Partin. The event will be held on a portion of State Street from Michaelmas (M) Avenue to Railroad Street.
Partin said the Soiree provides an opportunity to bring potential business owners into the traditional center of Cayce, with the intention to spur revitalization. Three businesses moved in after last year’s Soiree on State, Partin said. The Soiree is a chance to show off more prime properties.
The band lineup includes:
12:15 pm – 1:15 pm Mitchell Lee will be performing an acoustic set on the stage. Mitchell is a Columbia, SC native and Citadel graduate that appeared on NBC’s The Voice in 2017.
2 pm – 4 pm Amos Hoffman Jazz. He will be performing close to the entrance of the Soiree at Poplar and State Street. The music stage will be located at Railroad Street.
3 pm – 4:30 pm Prettier Than Matt’s Jessica Skinner
5:30 pm – 8 pm The Love Handles, performing beach music and your favorite cover songs
Parking for the Soiree is at Brookland Cayce High School. A trolley will pick event goers up at BC High School and there will be two trolley drop offs. The first drop off will be at the entrance to the Soiree, at State and Naples Avenue. This drop off is right in front of the kids area. The second drop off is at Lorick and Lyles Street near the music stage. The City will also have six 6-seater golf carts to transport people to the event.
The kid’s area is in Cayce Memorial Park at the corner of M Avenue and State Street. The City has partnered with the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees to host the kid’s area this year.
There will be a family scavenger hunt, tennis lessons, kickball games and gaga ball games, a rock painting station and tons of yard games. The kid’s area will also include DJ MaC McClary, a 12 year old DJ, who will play a variety of kid friendly music. He plays Kids Bop, JoJo Siwa, Disney movie soundtracks, and much more that kids of all ages love. There will also be 2 bouncys, (one for smaller kids and one for older kids), a face painter and a balloon artist. And everything for the kids is free.
There will be 2 bars set up on either end of the event selling craft beer, non-craft beer and wine.
