USC women upset Miss St. to win the SEC tournament

The South Carolina women’s basketball team upset No. 1 seed Mississippi State, 62-51, Sunday to win the Gamecocks’ fourth straight conference tournament title.

USC (26-6, 12-4 SEC) put a blemish on what had been a perfect season for the 32-1, 16-0 in the SEC, Bulldogs.

The Gamecocks never trailed from the second quarter until the end of the game.

USC sophomore forward Mikiah Herbert Harrigan scored 11 points in the first quarter, going 4-for-4. Freshman guard Bianca Jackson added five points in the second quarter for the Gamecocks. She had seven in the first half.

USC  will now wait to find out its NCAA tournament seed on Selection Monday, March 12. Odds are favorable the Gamecocks will host the first two rounds of the tournament.
