Man found dead in his truck, in Kershaw County

Police are investigating the death of a Sumter County man who was found dead in his truck in Camden Tuesday.

Carlton Brooks, 49, of Rembert was found dead in his tractor-trailer type truck, without the trailer attached. He was found at the Black River Shell on Sumter Highway in Camden Tuesday afternoon, according to Kershaw County Coroner David West. West said the cause of death is not known at this time. An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, according to West.

Investigators believe Brooks, an owner-operator, had filled up his truck with gas before pulling in front of the station and parking.

Camden Police are investigating.
