USC Women make quick work of Arkansas
South Carolina’s women’s’ basketball team defeated Arkansas 90-42,Thursday night.
The No. 9 Gamecocks were led by A’ja Wilson, who started for the first time after missing two games with an ankle injury. She had 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks. USC’s Alexis Jennings had her fifth double-double this year with 22 points on 9-of-9 shooting and 10 rebounds.
Wilson was honored pre-game for reaching 2,000 points in her career. Wilson then got her 1,000th career rebound in the third quarter. She is now the only player besides Sheila Foster (1979-82) with as many points and rebounds.
With the loss Arkansas fell to 11-10 and 2-6 in the SEC.
The Gamecocks next face No. 11 Missouri on Sunday, and then No. 1 UConn next Thursday. After that, it’s No. 2 Mississippi State on Feb. 5.
Malica Monk had 12 points to lead the Razorbacks.
The Gamecocks host No. 11 Missouri on Sun., Jan. 28. Tipoff from Colonial Life Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, and the game will air on ESPN2.
