Town of Lexington to close roads Sunday for Christmas parade

Lexington  Police Chief Terrence Green would like to notify the Town of Lexington community of preferred parking areas, road closures, and detours that will be in effect during the Town of Lexington Christmas Parade on Sunday.

The annual parade will use the route of Haywood Avenue to West Main Street to North Lake Drive to West Butler Street. Roadways on the parade route along with several driveways off West Main Street and Columbia Avenue may be closed prior to the parade for Christmas float setup and parade preparation. These closures may start as early as 2:00 p.m. Please arrive early if you or your children are participating in the Christmas Parade. West Main Street, from Columbia Avenue to North Lake Drive, will close at 3:15 p.m. with the parade beginning at 3:30 p.m.

It is advised that attendees please arrive early to find a parking space and seating along the parade route as this parade as this should be a well attended event. After the Christmas Parade has ended, road closures on West Main Street and North Lake Drive will remain in effect for approximately one hour. Those who are parked in parking lots along the parade route on West Main Street will be directed back to the intersection of West Main Street and Columbia Avenue to exit the area.

Parking will be available at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex, Lexington County Courthouse, and Lexington County Administration Building. Those who park in private parking lot areas without permission take the risk of their vehicle being towed. Please follow the Lexington Police Department Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and reminders during the Snowball Festival Christmas Parade.
