Update: Woman found at fire is identified, deputies arrest man for her murder
Kenneth Gleaton, 38, was arrested Tuesday. He is being charged with murder in the death of Amanda Peele, 39. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Gleaton was arrested at Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park, behind EdVenture Children’s Museum.
Kenneth Gleaton was being sought for murder in connection to the death of Peele.
Peele’s body was found in a burning home on the 100 block of Crestmore Drive Tuesday morning, according to Sheriff Leon Lott.
The Columbia Fire Department were called to a fire in the 100 block of Crestmore Drive around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Sheriff’s investigators were called to the home by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office because the fire seemed suspicious,
After the blaze was extinguished, Peele body was discovered in the debris, said Lott.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the woman as Peele. Her death was ruled as a homicide.
