Male shot, laying in yard, Lexington Police investigate shooting death

The Lexington Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting death that occurred within the Cherokee Village neighborhood.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting incident that had occurred on Cherokee Pond Court.  Upon arrival officers found a white male had been shot several times laying in the front yard of a residence and they gave medical aid until Lexington County Fire Service and EMS arrived.
The male subject was transported by ambulance to Lexington Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
State Law Enforcement Division (S.L.E.D.) Crime Scene and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are assisting the Lexington Police Department in this investigation.
