The Columbia Sears store will close in early September, according to a company release. The store will liquidate its inventory beginning June 16. Sears said it is accelerating the closing of unprofitable stores.

Two South Carolina Kmart stores, one in Summerville and one in Seneca are also scheduled for closing.
There is a K-Mart store on Charleston Highway in West Columbia. It was not on the list to close.

Sears Holding announced the closing of 150 stores in January. The Sears store in Harbison had already been closed. The building now houses a Belk’s store.
