Lexington County deputies arrested Stephen Johnson Craft this morning after he initiated a pursuit following his refusal to stop for blue lights and siren. Craft, 38, got out of his car on Beckman Road and was arrested after a short foot chase. A warrant for his arrest on a charge of grand larceny had been issued earlier this month.

Craft, a Lexington County resident, was driving a car matching the description of the one involved in this morning’s incident with a Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety officer. The State Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate that event.

Craft is scheduled to appear in bond court at 521 Gibson Road in Lexington 10  a.m. Friday.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division is investigating a shooting at Lexington Medical Center Thursday morning.

In that incident a LMC Public Safety officer responded to a situation with a person in a car in the hospital’s parking lot. There was a confrontation between the officer and the individual who was in the car that matched the description of the car Craft was in when apprehended. The person in the car hit the officer with his car. The officer fired his gun but did not hit the person in the car that struck him.

The officer was injured, but the injuries are not life threatening.
