A body recovered, another missing after boats collide on Lake Murray
One person was killed and another has been missing for more than 12 hours after two boats hit each other on Lake Murray Friday night.
Divers are trying to find a second person, said Robert McCullough, spokesman for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
He said DNR got the call regarding the the collision around 11 p.m. Friday. It happened close to Dreher Island and Crystal Lake. The two boats involved were a a 32-footer and a 16-foot bass boat, McCullough said.
There were six people were on board the two boats. Two other people were taken to the hospital.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office has not released the names related to the deceased. McCullough said an autopsy, under the direction of the coroner, is being performed Saturday on the one body that has been recovered.
The crash is still being investigated.
