The Class of 2020 received a flag flown by the 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron in the Grim 23 B-52H Stratofortress on December 23, 2016, during Operation Inherent Resolve.

Operation Inherent Resolve is the U.S. military’s operational name for the military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (commonly known as ISIS or ISIL), including both the campaign in Iraq and the campaign in Syria.

Air Force Master Sgt. Joshua Boswell presented the commemorative display to his daughter Jessica Alice Boswell, a freshman at Gilbert High.

District officials at Lexington County School District One said Boswell sent the flag to thank GHS students for donating care packages to active-duty military personnel in honor of Veterans Day.
